Raphaela Rosella is currently Issue Editor of The Australian PhotoJournalist, a non-profit publication dedicated to giving voice and casting a critical eye on journalism and mass media practices. Raphaela also works closely with organizations Slippry Sirkus, and Beyond Empathy on art based projects, across communities facing recurring hardship, in a hope to use photography to influence change. The recipient of the Youth Off The Streets Scholarship Program for Disadvantaged Youth in 2005, Raphaela has gone on to win the ACMP Student Photographer of the Year award for Documentary photography in 2011, and the FujiFilm Photographic Award that same year. Most recently, Raphaela was named Australia’s Top Emerging Documentary/Photojournalism Photographer by Capture Magazine. Raphaela holds a Bachelor of Photography majoring in Photojournalism and is currently completing her Honours. Raphaela is now based in Brisbane, Australia and represented by Oculi.
